What are Mitochondria

Mitochondria are organelles present in most of our cells and their purpose is to produce energy. Their history is fascinating and to know it we should go back millions of years ago, when only a few unicellular organisms still existed on earth and among these some bacteria, ancestors with a similar structure.

Describing how they work is not easy, but trying a parallelism we can say that they are microscopic power plants present in the cells in variable quantities depending on the energy that each type of cell needs to have.

For example, the ovum is the one that contains the most of them because it will turn into an embryo and then into a human being.

The mechanism is prodigious. The more our body consumes energy, the more the mitochondria through the exchanges of our metabolism produce new energy. But these exchanges physiologically slow down with age and if the energy is not consumed it becomes waste: we are talking about the famous and feared free radicals, molecules that oxidize cells and accelerate aging.

The case in point is that of super athletes: when they stop training, and thus stop consuming energy, they need to prevent the boomerang effect with targeted antioxidants.

The MyCli Approach to Mitochondrial Aging

If in the mitochondria of all cells lies the key to our body’s energy, in those of the skin we find the target of skin youth. In fact, in skin cells, energy consumption is high because this organ is in a constant process of renewal.

Every second new cells are born in the basal lamina to slowly rise to the surface and replace those that “die” in a constant turn over that defends us from the environment.

Deeper down, other cells, the fibroblasts, are responsible for supporting the epidermis by supplying collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. And it is towards the mitochondrion of fibroblasts that MyCli directs most of its anti-aging formulations.

Stimulating and defending the mitochondria is therefore the strategy that allows us to prolong and sustain skin youth, slowing down the biological clock and stimulating self-correction.

MyCli formulations

To defend the mitochondrion from oxidative stress, we have developed a complex of two fundamental antioxidants in innovative forms: lipophilic Vitamin C and hydrophilic Vitamin E, which recharge and protect each other by interacting with the membrane and the intercellular environment.

To stimulate its energy production, an exclusive blend of sugars and amino acids, called MITORECHARGE, has been developed to provide fuel by increasing ATP.

These ingredients conveyed in formulations that reach the strategic cells of the skin’s youth constitute a formidable booster that demonstrates over time a real ability to slow down the aging process and to correct signs that are already evident and have appeared to an appreciable extent.
