What are lipids

Lipids are a diverse group of molecules that are fundamental to our lives: they provide the necessary energy for all our systems and are part of cell membranes, so their presence is essential for intercellular communication and biochemical exchanges and are a strategic element of skin health and beauty.

There are two main categories of lipids in the skin: sebum lipids, which protect us from the external environment, and inter-corneocyte lipids, which bind the cells of the epidermis together to create a compact and cohesive barrier.

Then, in the endoderm, lipids are arranged in the fat cells acting as an energy reserve and thermal insulation of our body.

The quality and quantity of lipids in our bodies, their balance and composition is the subject of in-depth studies by many medical disciplines precisely because of their valuable role in the health and well-being of the body, mind and skin.

The MyCli approach

Within cosmeceuticals, MyCli research has always been committed to the study of both the lipids of sebum, whose excess or deficiency leads to acne, and the lipids of the stratum corneum and barrier film, whose deficiency in fact leads to skin dryness and premature ageing.

How to provide the skin with the substances it needs to bring it into lipid balance, how to deliver these substances and how to stimulate lipid self-production and correction are the foundations of our research.

The concepts that guide us have always been bioavailability, the quality of the molecules chosen – not all oils and butters, but only the best guarantee a good result – and finally the endogenous stimulus to the production of the best lipids, those that our body produces itself.

MyCli formulations

Across the board, our cosmeceutical formulations balance lipids in such a way as to allow functional substances to reach deep areas, so their presence is in such quality and quantity as to make topical products permeable.

In the case of treatments for very dry skin or skin depleted of lipids for chronological or exogenous reasons, our choice is the exclusive association of fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol combined with anti-inflammatory molecules such as endo-cannabinoids.

A new formulation territory has been unveiled for lip care with ingredients that stimulate the skin to increase sebum production.
